Doctrinal Statement
of Missionary Evangelist Robert Simpson
and the www.FundamentalBaptists.com Web Site
1. We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures were given by inspiration of God: holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2Peter 1:21) The Scriptures then are without error or the capability of error. We believe that the King James Bible is the Preserved Word of God for English speaking people and that it is without error. We do not believe in double inspiration, but do hold high the promises of God to preserve His Word forever. (Matthew 24:35; Psalm 12:6,7)
2. We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three PersonsC Father, Son, and Holy SpiritC co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Genesis 1:26; John 10:30; Acts 5:3,4)
3. We believe that God is holy and perfect in all that He is and does, that He is the creator of all, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from eternal death and from hell all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. We believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six literal days. (Isaiah 6; 53; Genesis 1; Exodus 34:6; Psalm 65:2; Romans 6:23)
4. We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1:1,14) The Bible teaches that Christ was virgin born. Christ lived a perfect life then suffered, bled, and died to make propitiation for our sins and not for our sins only but also for the sins of the world. We believe in the literal, bodily resurrection of Christ and that He is at the right hand of the Father waiting to come in the clouds to catch His bride away in the Rapture. Seven years later He will return with His saints and the faithful will rule and reign with Him for a thousand years. (Acts 1:11; Rev. 4:1)
5. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with the Father and the Son and of the same substance and nature; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He bears witness to the Truth; that He is the agent of the new birth; that He baptizes all true believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sanctifying all of them, sealing and thus securing them unto the day of redemption. (Acts 5:3,4; Jn.16:8; Eph. 4:30)
6. We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is a distinct and real personality, the god of this age, the adversary of Christ and all believers, and that his destiny is eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. (Is. 14:12)
7. We believe that all mankind are sinners. Man inherited this sin nature from Adam and is a sinner by birth and by choice. Since man is a sinner he needs a Saviour. Christ is the only Saviour and man must turn to Him for salvation or suffer eternal damnation. Salvation is completely a gift of God. We are saved by grace through faith based upon what Christ did on the cross of Calvary. In order to be saved a sinner must recognize their sinful condition, repent, and turn to God. (Rom. 3:10,23; 6:23)
8. We believe that once a person is saved they should follow the Lord in baptism and join a Bible believing Church. Baptism is to be by immersion only, as it signifies the Lord=s death, burial, and resurrection. (Rom. 6)
9. We believe that God is not willing that any should perish, but that His will is that all be saved. Nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own depravity and voluntary rejection of the Gospel. (2Pet. 3:9)
10. We believe that the saved are called into a life of separation from religious apostasy, and from all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations. (Jude 1:3)
11. We believe that the local New Testament church is composed of regenerated baptized believers, voluntarily united together for the purpose of worship, edification, observing the ordinances, fellowship, and service; that the officers of the local church are pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures; that the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity in the local community and unto the uttermost parts of the earth; that the local church is to be autonomous. (Acts 2:41,42; 1Tim. 3; Mt. 28:18-20; Eph. 5:23)
12. We believe that there are only two ordinances for the local church, which are baptism and the Lord=s Supper. Baptism is to take place after salvation and then the Lord=s Supper is to be done as often as ye would in remembrance of Christ. (Mt. 26:26-28; Mt. 28:19)
13. We believe in the priesthood of the believer. Each obedient believer can go into the presence of God, at any time through prayer. (Heb. 4:16)
14. We do not believe that the sign gifts are for today, but ceased at the completion of the canon of Scriptures. We furthermore believe that the Modern day Charismatic movement is not of God, but rather is bringing about confusion and is being used of Satan to try to weaken the body of Christ.
